Coach Goodspeed has spent four decades wearing almost every hat one could wear in the equestrian world. Himself a 2-time National Collegiate Champion, Professional Player, achieving a 5 goal handicap outdoors and 9 in the arena, Captain of the LA Colts & Stars thru the historic Pro Arena Polo era in LA, 20 yrs of Club Management experience, world renown Instructor/Author/Coach, Horse Trainer, USPA Umpire, Arena Player of the Year recipient, and has served on various USPA committees.

Tom's 5 DVD Polo Basics series produced in the late '80s became the "How-to-Manual" in the sport of polo for nearly 3 decades. Tom began playing polo at Joy Farm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the age of 12, delivering newspapers to pay for his riding and polo lessons. Polo and horses have carried Tom to both coasts thru his career. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Goodspeed went on to manage two top Equestrian Show Facilities; The Ox Ridge Hunt Club in CT and the LA Equestrian Center in Los Angeles. He then specialized in polo management at the San Diego Polo Club in CA for 14 years and then the Mashomack Polo Club in Pines Plains, NY for 4 years. He coached Culver Academies to 4 consecutive Regional Championships and has been coaching both the SMU Women & Men's teams since 2009. The Smu Women have won one Regional Championship and the Men have won two under Goodspeed. Tom has also recently coached Zone 3 to 3 National Championships in the NYTS High School  Outdoor Nationals in 2014, 2016, and 2017. The NYTS program has allowed Goodspeed to recruit some of this country's top mallets to SMU.
